Abstract

There are now ten edited collections in print in the Portable Australian Authors series (general editor, Laurie Hergenhan), of which seven are gatherings of colonial material. The publication of these books is one of the most reassuring undertakings in Australian literary studies in recent beleaguered times. The series keeps in print uncorrupted texts of important works, and retrieves informative documentation from specialist libraries, and the unknown.
