Review of Modern Australian Poetry, 1920-1970: A Guide to Information Sources by Herbert C. Jaffa

Abstract

Herbert C. Jaffa's Modern Australian Poetry, 1920-1970: A Guide to Information Sources is one ofthe Gale Research Company's series of guides to world literatures in English. The format is basically the same as other books in the series and in this instance includes a section on bibliographical aids and reference material, a coverage of general books, anthologies and articles, extensive coverage of a fairly uncontroversial selection of 'major poets', coverage of 'important and established' writers, three excellent chapters on the Jindyworobaks, the Angry Penguins and expatriate poets, a section on 'other' poets who don't fit comfortably into any of these categories and finally, a chapter on the post-1968 generation of poets.
