Review of Remembering Patrick White: Contemporary Critical Essays, edited by Elizabeth McMahon and Brigitta Olubas

Abstract

Remembering Patrick White: Contemporary Critical Essays includes twelve essays based on papers delivered at a symposium of the same title, held in Sydney in May 2007. In their introduction, the editors refer to the collection as 'the first major study of the full range of White's work in over twenty- five years' (ix). This claim is, one assumes, based on the fact that two of the essays discuss White's plays. There are, however, no essays on White's short stories or autobiography, and none on either The Eye of the Storm or his neglected last novel, Memoirs of Many in One.
